How to Bring a Close to the Ceremony

Sending off the new couple is a joyous event which takes place at the end of the reception.  Traditionally people use rice, confetti, or even bubbles to shower the bride and groom as they embark on their new journey together.  Unfortunately, rice can be harmful to the birds which live in the area, so birdseed is a popular alternative.

A new idea which has been gaining in popularity is the use of sparklers to send the bride and groom off in style!  Not just for the Fourth of July, these mini fireworks look absolutely gorgeous at nighttime and will make for some pretty awe-inspiring photos.  Just be careful not to get too close.  Have the sparklers displayed in a vase so guests have easy access to them; also make sure to have some water nearby so they can be easily extinguished.

Another stylish exit is with rose petals.  It’s a great way to bring the event full-circle since it typically begins with the bride walking down an aisle dressed with petals as well.  They look perfect when stored in a paper cone waiting to be thrown.  Don’t limit these cones to just flowers, though.  You can stuff them with almost anything!  If you want to double up, then try printing your programs on paper bags that your guests can fill with petals, or confetti to be thrown at the end of the night.  Looking for something that won’t get stuck in your hair?  Try using ribbon wands for a unique look.
