Crystal Rose Wedding Stories
The Crystal Rose has been doing weddings and receptions in Colorado for over 25 years. Over 15,000
couples have had their weddings with us and here are the some of the unusual and funny things that have
happened.
-
A bride booked her wedding date at the Crystal Rose and, 6 months before the wedding, called and advised us that the
wedding was still on as scheduled:But the
groom’s name has been changed to Bob. Jim was no longer in the picture.
-
We held an outside wedding where the bride and groom rode horses down the aisle to the gazebo to be married.
- After a wedding, the bride was kidnapped to raise money for the newly-weds: By her ex-boyfriend! When the bride and ex-boyfriend
finally got back to the Crystal Rose at 2am in the morning, the reception was over and the only person left was the groom. A bad way
to start a marriage, we’d say.
- We had a Renaissance wedding where the whole wedding party was in full armor and decorations included flags and goblets.
- A Hawaiian wedding featured Tiki torches, orchid leis shipped in from Hawaii, fire dancers, large sea shells, and orchid plants in multiple colors.
- The Crystal Rose had a Colorado Rockies baseball wedding where everyone that attended was in baseball
attire and the Crystal Rose was fully decorated in baseball decor. The bride and groom made
rookie baseball cards of themselves and had them spread out on all the dinner tables and the cake table.
- A Halloween wedding was planned where the bride and groom had dinner, dancing and cut the wedding cake first, then got married outside at midnight.
- The bride and groom brought up small trees for their guests to plant in honor of their wedding.
- A magician strolled through the reception doing magic tricks as the guests were dining.
- The Crystal Rose had a New Years eve wedding where the father of the bride proclaimed himself as one
of the greatest alumni of Notre Dame. The next day, Notre Dame was playing Florida State for the National
Championship. Prior to the wedding, the bride and her father came to the Crystal Rose 7 straight
days to practice the father-daughter dance. On the day of the wedding, the bride approached the wedding
coordinator and told her not to play the father daughter dance they had practiced. “What do you
want me to play?”she asked. “The Notre Dame fight song,” answered the bride. You can
imagine the look on dads face when “Rally sons of Notre Dame...”began to play.
- Many weddings include brides dressed in non-wedding colors - the best dress color was purple.
- A caricature artist did drawings of every wedding guest.
- A Star Wars theme wedding had the bride and groom walk under 40 light
sabers held by the guests as the Star Wars theme song was being played before their first dance.
- Mardi Gras weddings have been popular at the Crystal Rose including bright gold,
purple and green table centerpieces with very elaborate Mardi Gras beads.
- The Crystal Rose on Lookout Mountain had a wedding and a reception where everyone
attending the wedding was a motorcycle rider. Sadly, 30 days before the wedding, the bride’s father
passed away. She was very close to her father so she had the best man take her down the aisle on her
father’s Harley Davidson. This was a very emotional day.
- A wedding and reception included a tattoo artist giving free tattoos.
- The Crystal Rose has done many country-and-western weddings wherein we have supplied
the decorations. The most unusual decorations that we have are an 8 foot tall cowboy, an 8 foot
tall saloon girl and a 6 foot town mayor.
- A bride and groom had a photo booth for guest pictures including crazy costumes.
- An Alps wedding involved 8 men in full costume blowing 9 foot long horns during and after the wedding.
- A St. Patrick day wedding featured green beer and Irish decorations
and the bridal party and guests were dressed in Irish attire. A leprechaun showed up with a pot of
gold and gold coins were on all the dinner tables.
- The bride and groom loved their dog so much that he was the best man and ring bearer at the wedding.
They attached the bride’s wedding ring to the dog and all was going well until the dog, overcome with the
emotion of the moment, ran away with the ring. Fortunately, the dog returned to the Crystal Rose a few hours later.
- An Avalanche wedding featured an Avalanche wedding cake, Avalanche centerpieces and table decorations and
the bride wore an Avalanche garter.
- Every year the Crystal Rose has 4th of July weddings and receptions with fire works, red, white and blue
linens and American flags.
- A bride and a groom loved fishing so much that they hid a fishing pole behind the D.J. booth for the
garter toss. When the bride took her seat on the dance floor the fishing line was attached to the garter. The
groom got the fishing pole and started to yank on the line which became entangled in the dress. The dress started flying in all
directions and every guest was laughing so hard that they were crying.
- A bride and groom, with the best man and the maid of honor standing next to them, got ready to serve each
other a piece of wedding cake. Instead, they immediately turned and smashed the wedding cake in the face of the
best man and the maid of honor. The guests were laughing big time.
- Crystal Rose has had a Rodeo Queen and Miss Colorado both do their weddings and receptions with us.

bride and groom wished all of their guests luck. Special date weddings: 11-11-11, 09-09-99, 09-10-11, 07-07-07
- Denver Bronco weddings have included blue and orange tuxedos, Denver Bronco decorations on the
tables and all guests wore Denver Bronco jerseys.
- The father of the bride at the rehearsal dinner hit the groom so hard in the face that the groom could not
do full pictures the day of the wedding, only pictures on his “good side.”
- A Scottish wedding featured numerous bagpipers playing great Scottish songs.
- An Elvis Presley impersonator was once the disc jockey at the Crystal Rose.
- A groom called the Crystal Rose and changed brides 2 weeks prior to his wedding.
